Hear that? The Easter Bunny’s hops are getting louder every day as we get closer to Easter Sunday on April 9! Prepare to celebrate the day with your children and family with some fun craft ideas, baking and activities. Check out our favourite recommendations to make an eggs-travagantly fun time!

Decorate eggs for Easter
This is a classic craft activity that many families do as a yearly Easter tradition, taking normal (non-chocolate) eggs and decorating them with paint, tissue paper, string and other trimmings. If you want to do something more exciting, try colouring your eggs with a more unique method — one of our favourites is dropping food colouring on some plain rice and mixing them together before rolling your eggs in the mix. This will leave your eggs looking bright and colourful with a unique speckled design.
You can also mix food dye with whipped cream, place it on some patterned fabric, or use classic watercolour paints to colour them any way you like! Once the eggs are bright, add some glitter or any other decorations to really make them special!
Plan a fun Easter hunt
Whether in your back or front yard, at the local park or in another unique location, Easter egg hunts are one of the best ways to celebrate. Buy a pack (or multiple) of Easter eggs, scatter them around and let the kids loose to discover them!
The fun doesn’t have to just be for kids either — planning a more elaborate Easter egg hunt with clues or puzzles to solve can make it a fun way to spend Easter with friends or older family members. Of course, adults may also just enjoy running around the park finding eggs too. Just make sure you’ve bought enough for everyone!

Make bunny crafts
While most people think of the delicious food and treats associated with Easter, don’t forget how adorable a lot of the decorations are — especially the ones you can make at home. We love making these cute paper bag Easter bunny crafts, because they aren’t just easy to do, they’re also useful for Easter egg hunting!
All you need is a plain white paper bag, some white and pink paper, scissors, glue, and some decorations. Trim the white paper into two long bunny ear shapes, and then do the same with the pink paper but smaller, to fit inside the white. Glue them together and then glue your ears to the bag. From there, you can add pipe cleaners to a pom pom, or the bag directly, to create the whiskers and a nose, and above them glue on some googly eyes. And there you have it: a functional and adorable bunny bag!
Prepare an Easter picnic
Easter is at its most special when it’s spent with people you love. Start thinking about where you could all spend some time together for a nice picnic, and begin putting the pieces together with fruit and charcuterie options, as well as games and activity items, available right here at Uni Hill.
Stores like the Delish Deli have all you need for a share platter, while We Meat Again has you covered for meat if you want to make it a BBQ experience! Finish with some fresh fruit amidst all the chocolate from Bundoora Fruit Market!
Eat some delicious hot cross buns!
Hot cross buns might be as synonymous with Easter as chocolate eggs at this point, and we aren’t complaining! These delicious and sweet buns might be simple in their ingredients, but they certainly create a lot of joy with their flavour. And the best part of this idea: you can get some hot cross buns ready-made from Coles or Bundoora Top Bakery right here at Uni Hill, meaning all you need to do is get a plate and enjoy the taste.
Of course, if you want to try your hand at making them yourself, it could be a fun experience with kids or other family members. Pop by our supermarket to get all the ingredients you need — and maybe a pack of buns just in case.
